Microdermabrasion Los Angeles

Microdermabrasion is a “no downtime”, non-surgical, painless skin peeling procedure that gives damaged and sun-aged skin an overall fresh, healthy-looking glow without the use of any chemicals or lasers. At Nu Vela Laser Medical Spa, we strive to offer excellent microdermabrasion results to all our patients.

The Benefits of Microdermabrasion

The non-invasive skin resurfacing procedure can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, back, legs, elbows, and feet. It can be used alone, or in combination with other treatments. Microdermabrasion helps repair damaged skin by mechanically abrading superficial skin layers. It is a great option for people on the go, who want to give a supple, vibrant glow to their skin, and is one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed today.

Microdermabrasion with DiamondTome™

Until recently, microdermabrasion, the skin-resurfacing treatment, meant bombarding the face with tiny crystals and “sand blasting” the skin, leaving your face red and sore. At Nu Vela, a premiere Los Angeles medical spa, we use a newer technology, called DiamondTome™, a cosmetic dermatology procedure that is considered a vast improvement over the previous method. The DiamondTome™ peel uses the polishing action of diamond-chip-encrusted wand to remove the top skin layers. The precise diamond wand chip size, variable grits, along with the adjustable vacuum of DiamondTome™, allows for a controlled amount of exfoliation that will produce uniform results and a thorough treatment. Like in traditional microdermabrasion, this machine uses suction to take away the abraded dead skin cells and other debris, but unlike the older method, the newer technology is much less harsh, even at its highest settings, and results in even skin resurfacing without the adverse effects of messy crystal particles, burning, irritation, and skin reactions.

Microdermabrasion – The Procedure

In a typical microdermabrasion skin resurfacing session, your doctor thoroughly cleans your face using an alcohol-based cleanser and then glides the diamond-chip-encrusted wand over the area to be exfoliated. As the wand is drawn across the skin, the diamond chips abrade away old, dead skin cells, blackheads, whiteheads, and superficial spots, which the vacuum then picks up with gentle suction. Unlike certain chemical peels and laser resurfacing, the DiamondTome™ skin exfoliation is relatively painless; therefore, anesthesia is not required.

Recovering from Your Microdermabrasion

The length of the treatment and number of treatments vary depending on skin type and condition. A microdermabrasion procedure may last approximately thirty to forty minutes. Results are gradual but highly effective. Your skin will look and feel smoother even after the first treatment and will continue to improve with additional treatments. By repeating the procedure over the course of several months, the younger, softer skin moves to the surface, revealing significant improvements in texture and tone. Over time, the frequency of treatment is decreased to twice a year. This helps maintain the results.

Skin Conditions Treatable with Microdermabrasion

The DiamondTome™ peel can be safely and effectively used on individuals of all skin types because it only causes superficial injury to the skin. It should be avoided by those with recent viral infections, such as cold sores and shingles, and those with eczema, rosacea, or sunburns.

Individually customized to your needs, DiamondTome™ peel is perfect for those suffering from oily skin, whiteheads, blackheads, large pores, fine wrinkles, or mild pigmentation. Removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, while drawing out blackheads and whiteheads relieves congestion in the skin and reduces pore size.

When used for general skin rejuvenation only, microdermabrasion skin peel is followed by the application of a cooling mask and a face massage with a vitamin-filled cream. This helps the skin achieve a vibrant glow. Resurfacing with DiamondTome™ wands is the best alternative to laser or chemical peels when used for rejuvenation purposes only. When performed properly, this procedure stimulates the elastic tissue beneath the skin surface, promotes the growth of collagen (network of fibers that provides the skin with structure, support, and elasticity), reduces the appearance of sunspots, age, spots, scars, eliminates blackheads/whiteheads, treats oily skin and enlarged pores, and gives the skin a healthier and firmer appearance. The risk of scarring and pigmentation following a treatment is extremely low and normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment.

The Cost of Your Microdermabrasion

The cost of your microdermabrasion treatment in Los Angeles will be determined by the areas of the face being treated, the skin issues being addressed, and other factors. At Nu Vela Laser Medical Spa, we do offer non-surgical cosmetic financing. Dr. Dishakjian can discuss the payment options we offer during your consultation.

Other Skin Treatment Options We offer

For severe acne, acne scarring, or deep wrinkles, you may require deeper treatment; meaning, a stronger vacuum, use of coarser diamond chips, more passes, and longer recovery time. For these cases, the DiamondTome™ peel is often administered in combination with other treatments, such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing. Click acne and acne scar treatment, sun and age spots removal or dermal injectable fillers to find out how these skin conditions are best treated at the Center.
