What Happens During a Consultation?
Prior to receiving JUVÉDERM treatment, you will discuss your cosmetic goals and expectations with Dr. Dishakjian. Dr. Dishakjian will advise you to stay away from certain medications that raise the risk of bleeding and bruising at the treatment site.
Alcoholic drinks and cigarettes must also be avoided prior to JUVÉDERM treatment, since they can cause bruising. Any allergies or sensitivities should be discussed with Dr. Dishakjian.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Dr. Dishakjian will use a small needle to inject the chosen JUVÉDERM filler directly into the skin of the area that requires treatment.
JUVÉDERM is already formulated with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, so there is no need to numb the injection site beforehand. Depending on the size of the treatment area and the number of treatments required, the treatment might take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.

Aftercare
Usually, patients can get back to their regular routines right after receiving JUVÉDERM filler treatment. Dr. Dishakjian advises you to refrain from strenuous activity for the first 24 to 48 hours in order to prevent exacerbating swelling and bruising.
Mild redness and numbness are to be anticipated after receiving JUVÉDERM injections. However, they can be relieved in a few hours or days by using ice or performing a light massage.
